Year 7
All students in Year 7 throughout NSW undertake mandatory courses. These mandatory courses are determined by the NSW Board of Studies.

Year 8
In addition to the mandatory courses, Year 8 students focus on studying one language intensively. At Hunters Hill High, students will study either Italian or Japanese.

Years 9 and 10
At Hunters Hill High School, students in Year 9 and 10 study a range of mandatory courses as well as three selected courses. These courses are known as elective courses.

Students in Year 11 undertake at least 12 units of study including 2 units of English to complete the Preliminary course. Generally, a subject is equivalent to 2 units of study.

Students may seek the Principal's approval to undertake TVET courses at TAFE Colleges or courses of study through the Open School.

Students in Year 12 undertake at least 10 units of study including 2 units of English. Students MUST have successfully completed the Preliminary course for progression to an HSC course. Generally a subject is equivalent to 2 units of study.
