Extension classes are offered to students entering Years 7 and 8, each year. Extension classes cater for motivated and self-directed learners who are able to assimilate academic information effectively.
Parents can request consideration of an extension class placement at the time of an enrolment enquiry. A committee collates information from parents and students' previous schools to ensure equity within the selection process.
Each year students are encouraged to develop and extend their subject knowledge through participation in a range of academic competitions. These competitions provide opportunities for students to challenge themselves, to gain examination practice and to receive feedback on individual strengths and weaknesses.

Under the support of the Science and Industrial Arts faculties, teams of students enter the Solar Car Challenge. In this Challenge, design and production skills are developed to construct an efficient model solar car used to compete against other models in speed and distance challenges.
This initiative improves problem-solving skills and encourages learning in new and emerging technologies.
